I came to the loving care of Forever Loved after my long time owner had to move in to assisted living. Let’s be honest here, my personality would not have meshed with the sedentary, quiet lifestyle required in that type of living situation.
Personality
Howdy folks! My name is Brady and I am a darling 6 year old 14 lb Yorkshire Terrier/Silky Terrier mix. I’m very healthy and very active, so the folks here at Forever Loved have gotten to know just what kind of a home is going to be perfect for me.
I’m not your average sit around, cuddle on the couch, quiet-as-a-church-mouse type. I am fun-loving, energetic, smart-as-a whip, puzzle-loving sometimes quirky guy with distinct needs.
I love training time, I love walks, I love working on puzzles and games like “find it” and I show very good focus when working with the trainer.
Here’s what I’m not so good at - I bark for attention and have been a bit anxious at being left alone. That manifests as a lot of noise-making, so apartments or shared wall dwellings are out of the question. (I have, however, shown that I’m doing much better at the rescue because they are great at fulfilling my doggy needs for enrichment and activity.)
I also can be reactive on walks if other dogs approach me. That behavior, too can be modified, but will take some focused training on the part of my adopter. (I still do like to cuddle, so don’t worry about that.)
I have been good with other dogs at the shelter, so if I am to live with another dog, a meet and greet will be essential. I’m not for a first-time doggy owner; but I show a ton of potential in the hands of an experienced, savvy handler or adopter. I’m cute as a button, so don’t be quick to apply for me if you don’t think you can give me what I need.
My house training is a bit on the wonky side because for many years I lived inside and was expected to potty on puppy pads. I’m doing much better with a doggy door and only occasionally will pee on the pads inside my kennel.
I will say it again, I am very motivated to train and learn new things, I’ve just never been given the opportunity to be more than an anxious, unfulfilled boy. Did I mention that the trainer here will support you in my behavior modification journey?
My time is NOW! and I can hardly wait to be in a home with a yard where I can run and play, and excel at learning!
Are you that special person who can bring out the best dog in me? Apply to meet me and let’s make a love connection!
